Student Code of Conduct
Last Updated: 5/17/2025
At Greenlight, we believe that driving education is a serious responsibility — and we’re here to help you succeed every step of the way. When you register for any class or road lesson, you’re agreeing to the expectations outlined below. These guidelines exist to protect your progress, your safety, and your future as a licensed driver.
💻 Online Class Expectations
Online learning is convenient, but it’s still real learning. To make the most of each class:
- ✅ Be on time: Please log in at least 10 minutes early. The Zoom room locks once class starts.
- ✅ Use your real name: Your legal first and last name must match your registration.
- ✅ Parent/Teen class? Add your parent’s name too (e.g., John Smith / Jane Smith).
- ✅ Keep your camera on: Your face should be clearly visible with your device in a steady location. No walking around, sitting in cars, or blank screens.
- ✅ Engage and participate: Be ready to unmute, answer questions, use the chat, and complete your quiz at the end of class.
- ❌ Avoid distractions: No texting, TikTok, eating, lying in bed, or multitasking during class.
- ❌ Choose a focused space: Zoom classes should be taken in a quiet, well-lit area.
Important: If these expectations aren’t met, you won’t receive credit for the class — even if you were logged in. The DMV requires full attention and visible engagement for credit to count.
🚗 Driving Lesson Conduct
Driving lessons are real-time, hands-on training — your actions behind the wheel matter. To ensure everyone’s safety and success:
- ✅ Bring your learner’s permit: Only the physical permit is accepted (no photos or copies).
- ✅ Wear proper footwear: Closed-toe shoes only. No sandals, slides, Crocs, boots, or platforms.
- ✅ Bring your glasses if needed: If your permit requires corrective lenses, you must wear them.
- ✅ Stay home if you’re sick: Even mild symptoms are reason to reschedule. Let’s keep everyone healthy.
- ✅ Be respectful and attentive: Follow instructions, stay focused, and come ready to learn.
- ✅ Bring a notebook and pen: You’ll be taking notes while parked — it helps reinforce what you learn.
- ❌ No-shows hurt everyone: If we’re at your location and you’re not responding, your lesson will be marked incomplete and may not be rescheduled.
- ❌ No guests allowed: For safety reasons, friends or family cannot ride along unless pre-approved in writing.
Note: If you appear unwell, impaired, or unwilling to follow safety instructions, the lesson may be canceled without credit.
🕒 Program Completion Timeline
- Your driver education program must be completed within 24 months of enrollment.
- If you’re inactive for more than 12 months, your remaining lessons may be forfeited.
- Missed appointments and long gaps do not extend your timeline.
📜 Certificate Eligibility
To receive your Driver Education Certificate of Completion, you must:
- Complete all 15 Zoom classes (30 hours total)
- Complete all 4 behind-the-wheel road lessons (8 hours total)
- Have a zero balance (all payments completed)
- Follow this Code of Conduct throughout the program
Reminder: No certificate will be issued if any part of the program is incomplete — including behavior expectations.
👊 Zero Tolerance
To keep everyone safe and on track, certain behaviors result in immediate removal from class or cancellation of a driving lesson:
- Appearing under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Arriving without your permit or appropriate footwear
- Being disrespectful, disruptive, or unwilling to participate
- Attempting to cheat or manipulate attendance
🤝 Final Thought
Greenlight Driving School is built on trust, respect, and accountability. We won’t micromanage you — we trust you’re here because you want to succeed. If challenges come up, we’ll do our best to help. But if a student repeatedly shows up unprepared, unengaged, or disrespectful, we reserve the right to remove them from the program.
Let’s work together to build safe, confident drivers — starting now.
