Notice of Updates & Agreement to Terms
Greenlight Driving School reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Continued enrollment, appointment booking, or participation in our programs after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. It is your responsibility to review the most current version, available at: greenlightstudentdriver.com/terms-and-conditions/.
1. Enrollment & Eligibility
- Students must be at least 16 years old to begin online or behind-the-wheel instruction.
- Students age 15 may register but cannot participate until they turn 16.
- A valid, unexpired Connecticut learner’s permit is required for all road lessons.
- The physical permit must be shown before each lesson — no photos or copies.
- Students must wear fully enclosed footwear and corrective lenses if required by their permit.
- Students wearing removable medical devices (e.g., foot braces) may not drive.
- Driving lessons are limited to 2 hours per day, per state regulations.
2. Payments & Refunds
- Full payment or an approved payment plan is required before any instruction begins.
- Refunds are only issued if no portion of the service has been used.
- Approved refunds are subject to a $25 administrative fee.
- No refunds will be issued after instruction has started, for any reason.
3. Liability Release
By enrolling in Greenlight Driving School’s driver training program, you acknowledge that you are permitted to participate in both online and behind-the-wheel instruction provided by a state-licensed instructor.
You understand and accept that driving lessons involve inherent risk. You agree to release Greenlight Driving School and its instructors from all liability for any injury, accident, or property damage that may occur during in-car instruction. This release applies regardless of fault, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.
4. Scheduling, Cancellations & No-Shows
- Students may cancel or reschedule lessons at any time without penalty.
- Ghosting your instructor (ignoring calls or texts at the time of pickup) may result in discontinued service.
- Greenlight may cancel or reschedule lessons due to:
- Adverse weather: rain, snow, ice, wind
- Instructor unavailability: illness, personal days, vacations
- Vehicle issues: unexpected repairs or scheduled maintenance
- Scheduling conflicts or late arrivals
- Safety concerns, including but not limited to:
- Illness symptoms (sneezing, coughing, runny nose, etc.)
- Fatigue, drowsiness, or unfocused behavior
- Impaired communication or visible distress
- Signs of intoxication or drug use
- Aggressive or erratic driving behavior
5. Driving Lessons – Conduct & Safety
- Students must follow all instructions from the instructor. Failure to comply may result in immediate lesson cancellation with no credit.
- No passengers (friends or family) allowed unless pre-approved.
- Smoking, vaping, or showing signs of impairment will result in immediate termination of the lesson.
- Students are encouraged to bring a notepad and pen to take notes when safely parked.
6. Online Classes – Rules & Attendance
- Log in 10 minutes early with your camera on, face visible, and device stationary.
- Use your legal first and last name (e.g., John Smith). During the Parent-Teen Safety Class, list both names (e.g., John Smith / Jane Smith).
- Full attendance is required. Late arrivals or early departures = no credit.
- No multitasking (texting, eating, sleeping, lying in bed, using social media, etc.)
- Students under 18 and enrolled in school:
- Max 2 hours/day on school days
- Max 4 hours/day on weekends or school breaks
- Students 18+ not enrolled in school: up to 8 hours/day.
- A 25-question test follows each session. 5+ wrong = makeup class required.
7. DMV Testing Support
- Greenlight does not conduct DMV tests on-site.
- Students may rent a Greenlight vehicle for DMV testing if they:
- Have completed at least 2 hours of road training, and
- Have purchased the DMV rental service in advance
- Two DMV vehicle options:
- Instructor drives the car to the DMV
- Parent picks up the vehicle from the driving school
- Each additional DMV test booking is subject to a $50 fee.
8. Certificates
- Completion certificates are only issued once:
- The course is 100% complete, and
- The balance is paid in full
- Certificates are required to schedule a DMV test and cannot be issued early.
- If you were issued a paper certificate before Nov 1, 2022, a $25 digital conversion fee applies per DMV requirements.
9. Pick-Up & Drop-Off Policy
- Pick-up/drop-off is limited to home, school, or workplace.
- Alternate drop-offs (e.g., friend’s house) require written parent permission for students under 18.
- Students meeting at the driving school must be picked up on time. We cannot wait or supervise unattended minors.
10. Privacy, Communication & Recordkeeping
- All calls, texts, and emails are archived for documentation and accountability.
- Road lessons and DMV tests are not recorded.
- Zoom class openings may be recorded for attendance verification.
- Student information is used solely for legal and educational purposes and never shared externally.
- Program must be completed within 24 months of enrollment.
- Students inactive for 12+ months will be marked as withdrawn.
- No refunds for expired/inactive enrollments.
- All records are destroyed after 3 years, per DMV regulations.
